Actually, this Ebenezer Cleaves was not the Ebenezer Cleaves who married the widow Anna (Davis) Stevens (as your sources thought, no doubt from VRs or CRs that would not distinguish between two persons named Ebenezer Cleaves). It was the son Ebenezer (b. 1723)who married Anna. This son moved to Maine, where he is listed at New Gloucester in the 1790 USC. He died about 1797; Anna died 28 Oct 1796. What got me on to this was the fact that the father Ebenezer was called a "widower" as late as 1752 (Dr. Hale's diary of that year) and that he did not mention a wife in his will.
