William Cleaves, b. 1650, married firstly, Martha Edwards [daughter of Rice Edwards] and secondly, Margaret Corey [daughter of Giles and Margaret (?????) Corey.Margaret (Corey) Cleaves had three sisters: Alice (Corey) Parker [wife of John Parker], who was executed as a witch in 1692; Elizabeth (Corey) Moulton [wife of John Moulton]; and Deliverance (Corey) Crosby [wife of Henry Crosby].Her husband and her sister Elizabeth's husband, John Moulton, were both mentioned in a will drawn up by GIles Corey before he was pressed to death in 1692; Margaret's stepmother, Martha (Penoyer) Rich Corey was also executed in 1692 and both were for witchcraft.I am researching the Salem Witch Trials for a book based solely on the people involved; basically their genealogies, but mentioning the trials as a second glance.Any information you find out on William Cleaves and his two wives can be emailed to me at [email protected], thanks.
