James Ross Cleaves was my great grandfather through his son Grover (or Grouvenor) Cleaves. His parents were Robert Cleaves and Mary Bard. I haven't been able to find any information on whom the parents of Robert Cleaves were. I suspect that they were Robert Cleaves and Molly Ross of Arundel, Maine. (Note: I was in error by stating that Mary Bard was also known as Mary Tarbox. It was her mother, Betsey Smith who married Jotham Tarbox after her husband Samuel Bard died). I have a picture of James Ross Cleaves in his civil war uniform.
