Dana,
I looked up my records I have entered into my computer and I don't have anything past Adam and Jemina either. However, I will try and check my paper notes to see if I have anything that I think might be a possiblity but I haven't proven yet. If I find anything like that I will send it your way for you to see if you can make any connection. I am giving you my line here.
Phillip Clem b. 1810 Burke, North Carolina
Parents: Adam and Jemima Crockett Clem
Married 1834 Limestone County, Alabama to Sarah (unknown)
Sarah b. 1815 Va
Children:
James L. Clem b. 1835 Limestone County, Alabama
(this is the uncle that my great granddaddy lived with after the death of his parents, family tales say that he was mean to him)
George M. Clemb. 1839 Limestone County, Alabama
(my great great grandaddy) proven by my great granddaddy's death certificate, gave father's name as George but nothing entered for mother's name.
Narcissa R. Clem b. 1841
Angelon Clem b. 1842 Limestone County, Alabama
Mariah M. Clem b. 1844 Limestone County, Alabama
John J. Clem b. 1850 Limestone County, Alabama
Sarah E. Clem b. 1852 Limestone County, Alabama
William P. Clem b. 1856
Most of my data on the Clem family has come from online searching of the Latter Day Saints and ancestry.com sites. Census reports etc.
I have asked my aunt (84) who said she couldn't remember much other than her Papa said he was raised by his uncle who was mean to him. He lived in Arkansas until he ran away coming to Limestone County, Alabama. I did find him and his grandfather Phillip living with James L. and family in Arkansas, Phillip was listed as James' father and my George was 18, he was listed as a nephew and farm laboror. My aunt said that she remembered her Papa saying he ran away at the age of 18-19 because his uncle kicked him and he fell into the fireplace and burned himself and he knew it was time to leave so he ran away.
So, I noticed that your line has a George in it as well. I wonder if that might be a clue as to who Adam's father might be. Of coarse it could be the first name of Jemima's father as well. But it might be worth looking into. My line had two George's in it. Phillip's son, George and he named his only child George too. Then my grandmother named one of her children George, he died as a child. Then her brother Eddie named one of his children George as well.
Hope this helps and I will keep an eye out for my notes to see if I have anything further back that I haven't entered yet.
Happy hunting, Di
