John Julius Clemans, relation to Mark Twain?

My grandfather always said we were related to Mark Twain. I am a descendant of John Clemans(possibly John Julius)born in NJ,and he was the grandfather of Lemuel E. Clemans of WV. In Twain's biography, he says his grandfather was samuel Clemens, but i recently came across people from my part of the Clemans family also believing they were related. Is it possible it is a relation through marriage? does anything know anything that can help me?
