Greetings!I was hoping that you knew something about William Clingan so that I can pursue what, if any, relationship he might have to the Guytons/Guitons.Samuel Guyton and his wife Ann Chance moved with their family from Baltimore, MD, to Clark, OH, sometime between 1820 and 1830.They had a number of children, all of whom were born in MD, and came with them to Clark, OH.Several of their daughters later moved on to Henry, IA.Their sons, however, apparently remained in/near Clark, OH.Here is what I know of their marriages, all of which took place in Clark, OH:
... Elisha married Mary Wren 13 Mar 1834 (He later lived in Champaign, OH)
... Dorcus married John W. Ford 1 Jan 1837 (moved to Henry, IA)
... Mary Martha married Benjamin Bowen Allender 3 Sept 1837 (moved to Henry, IA)
... Rebecca married Joseph Keesecker 15 Aug 1844 (moved to Henry, IA)
... John married Sophia Gray 7 Apr 1839 (remained in Clark, OH)
... James married Isabella Anderson 1 Jan 1839
... Frances married Wade Harris in 1825 and then James Worley in the 1830s.
Elizabeth Guyton, my ggggrandmother, was also born in MD.She later married Thomas Walker in Clark, OH on 11 Feb 1838.It would seem logical that she too was the daughter of Samuel Guyton and Ann Chance. However, census records seem to indicate otherwise.Furthermore, Elizabeth's death record states that her parents were __ and Sarah Guiton.I am trying to see if Elizabeth might link to Henry and Sarah who were married in Washington, MD, in 1805.Henry would have been the cousin of the Samuel who moved to Clark, OH.I also know that two of Henry's brothers, Vincent and Benjamin, moved to OH at the time period in question, but I have no record that Henry and Sarah moved to OH.Any record in Washington, MD or anywhere else for that matters disappears after the 1820 census. Therefore, I am grasping at straws trying to find any links to my family. Thanks!!
