Hi Kathy,

I found the OBIT for Lucy at the Northern New York Historical Newspapers site. It is in a pdf file of the paper. To get there, do as follows:
1. Go to http://news.nnyln.net
2. Point at "St. Lawrence" county and SELECT Gouverneur Tribune-Press and others, 1864-2004.
3. Type "lucy y kellogg" in the search box. The quotes are required.
4. The only hit should be a file link entitled "gouverneur-press-1936-january-1938-august - 1015.pdf. This is page four of the Feb 16, 1938 Tribune-Press. About half way down column 6 the obit titled "Lucy Y. Kellogg Dies At Little York" appears.

Abner Kellogg was her third marriage.

The good part reads: "Born in Hammond on March 19, 1871, Mrs. Kellogg was the daughter of Nicholas and Betsey Petrie Yerdon. ..."

It is not surprising that the census may have the birth place wrong. There are no records in NY State for 1871. The most likely nearest source would be a marriage record to Robert Streeter circa 1887 maybe.

I'm trying to trace down Betsey Petrie. I wondering if the "niece" listing wasn't one of convience where the true relative was nephew Nicholas? I'm looking. There are at least four brothers to Lucy; George A Yerdon, Frank E Yerdon, Francis Yerdon, and Oliver Yerdon. Both Oliver and Francis married into one of my Closs families.

Have a good day.

Bob
