Hi Erin
Saw this message here, thought I would reply to you here instead of personally so that if anyone else spotted anything they could use or was familiar then you would get more replies.
I went to the WA state library today and did a search through the NZ microfilm records that are here.
I first searched the NZ directories for Otago and Southland and came up with the following:
1880-1881: Clothier, Henry; Bricklayer, Roslyn, Dunedin. (p398)
1883-1884: Clothier, Henry; Newsagent, High
Street; Roslyn, Dunedin. (p435)
1885-1886: Clothier, Henry; High Street; Roslyn; Dunedin. (p439)
1890-1891: Same as above. (p597)
1892-1893: Same as above. (p668)
I also searched the NZ Military records for WWI & WWII NZ Expiditionary Forces and Reserves and found the following:
James Leodamus Calder
Regiment# 3/389 - Private 2nd body or regiment draft - Ambulance Unit
Single
Address: 21 Mitchie Street, Roslynn, Dunedin, Otage.
Next of Kin: Mrs M Calder (mother) - same address as James
Alan Douglas Calder
Regiment# 2/1760 - Gunner 5th regiment - Feild Artilliery
Single
Address: 287 Wellington Tce, Wellington
Next of Kin: Mrs M Calder (same address as for James)
Ernest Henry Calder
Regiment# 7/1577 - Corporal - 7th body or reinforcement draft - Canterbury Mounted Rifles
Single
Address: 28 Armagh Street, Christchurch, Canterbury
Next of Kin: Mrs Margaret Calder (mother) - same address as for James.
All of them have a mother with the name M Calder with her address as being 21 Minchie Street, Roslyn, Dunedin.
There was also a George Calder that lived at this address. Is there a posibility that Henry is related to all of these people and that he lived at this address also.Just a thought anyway.Maybe there is a posibility that Henry and Maggie changed their name from Clothier to Calder and not Henry Samuel?Unfortunately I have limited resources in Perth to investigate this.
I hope this gives you something to go on anyway.Good luck with the family reunion and I hope to make it if I can.
