CORRECTION: Wives Of Philip Clover

Due to constantly making mass corrections regarding the myth that Elizabeth Susanna Shepherd was Philip Clover's (ca.1727-1802) of Berkeley Co, (W) VA. wife -- am now advising all; ABSOLUTELY NO PROOF HAS BEEN FOUND that she was his wife. This "myth" is being shared by descendants as "fact"; from published material and by word-of-mouth. THE FACTS ARE: early deeds indicate (1) Philip Clover purchased Lot #25 in Shepherdstown; as did many others on the same date from Thomas Shepherd. (2) Wife, Elizabeth (d.bfr.1780), signed early Grantor Deeds. (3) He sells a few parcels without a wife and (4) in later Grantor Deeds has wife, Susanna (d.bfr.1788) signing. Thomas Shepherd's dau's Elizabeth Brown (1738-1788) & Susanna Eoff (1758-1835)while near the same age as Philip; are accounted for. Ergo, Elizabeth was Philip Clover's 1st wife and Susanna the 2nd; maiden names unknown. PLEASE CORRECT YOUR RECORDS OR OTHERWISE PRODUCE PROOF.
Joanne V. (LEWIS) Thomas - 8th generation Clover descendent
