Hi April,
I don't think that Cardy is the same person as my Cardell. I found Cardell on the IGI and believe that he was the brother of my 3xgrt grandfather George Clow or Close. The baptisms are recorded at St John's, Stamford, Lincolnshire. Cardell was bapd. Dec 31st, 1777, making it too early to be yours. I suppose Cardy may have been his son, being a similar name, but have no info on this.
