A co-worker collects old photographs and purchased an album four years ago at an estate auction in the Los Angeles area (very shabby condition, but lots of photos; portraits, casual and posed shots, group photos, including a number of photos of dogs and cats(!)
He showed several of us the album, and as there was so much information regarding the family that I decided to do a search and found your posts on GenForum.
Besides the wealth of photos, this album contains two obituary clippings re: Mary A. Clow @ age 60 in 1920, and one re: William C., in 1929 (I think, it is smudged). In addition to many photos of whom I assume to be Mary and William, adjacent to the obituaries for Mary, there are several very touching clippings to "our Mother" which leads me to believe that the album belonged to one of the children. Among the names of surviving children are Mrs. Veva Nicholson (Genevieve, or Mrs. R.O. Nicholson) of Portland, and James H. Clow of Portland. Also named are Mrs. Maude Downey, Mrs. Minnie Morton (obit for William says Mrs. Minnie Billington) , Mrs. Ethel Downey, Mrs. Eva Vincent (the later obit for William says Eva Barker), Harry Clow, and Charles Clow. Predeceasing Mary were Robert, Ines, and Mary.
We are urging our co-worker to surrender the album to the family, but he is very cautious that it can be "proved" that it belongs to a valid decendent.
This album of photos and mementos belongs with a family that will truly appreciate and treasure them.
If you know of anyone descending from the Clow family that can verify anything, please e-mail me!
