I agree, Beach is a unusual name. From what I can find, James Beach Clow's mother's maiden name was Beach. I haven't been able to locate any more information on his parents but he did have several sons: James, Samuel, Edward. From what I can find, none of them carried on the middle name of Beach, but Samuel had a son, James Beach Clow. All census information on the father and sons show they lived in Pennsylvania and I have not done much research on the family after about 1850 since my connection was a daughter that married into the Marshall family in 1843.
