Clows from Scotland to USA to Canada

I have been trying for years to get a connection. I have sent for Birth Certificates and have some information. It appears the Clows came to the US from Scotland in the 1700's and toward the late 1700's my great grandfather William Clow and Charlotte Reed Clow went to Canada. They had five children (Lemuel, Leith, Georgina...not sure of the other names. Leith (b1891)went to Nova Scotia at 11 years old and worked as a cabin boy back and forth to Liverpool. During WW1 he was in Liverpool and inducted into the British Navy. He married Marie Louise Stanley (b.1899)from Morecambe in 1919. Her parents were Thomas James Stanley and Emma Morris Stanley from Morecambe.
If this is a connection for anyone please contact me so that I can go further as I am at a dead end.
