Clubb/e/s - Origins of the Surname
I am just starting to look into my family history and wondered if anyone could throw light on the origins of our family name.
For what its worth, the story I have been told is that we were coopers in the Danish fishing fleets that came across the North Sea in the 11th century, and that we settled in the Aberdeen area. "Clubb" apparently was old Danish for "cooper".
I understand that in Aberdeen there is a place called "Clubb Cross".
Any further info/corrections would add colour to my research!
