Pat,
I used to trade letters with a lady in the Hudson River Valley named Mrs. C. M. Wittoff. She was a Clum, from Phillip's line. I also cooresponded with a Virginia Reichelt of Tallahassee, FL. Virginia was a Klum from NY. These ladies traded information for years before computers. Unfortunately both are dead, and I have no idea where their research (50-60 years of it) went. It would be indeed sad if it is filed away in dusty cardboard boxes somewhere. Their consensus was that the Clums of Phillip, the immigrant and the Klums of William, another immigrant, were PROBABLY related, but they never found the tie back in Germany. The Clums and Klums lived near each other in various towns along the Hudson River. Mrs. W. and Virginia both theorized my Virginia Clum line as from one of the grandsons of Phillip. I claim Phillip thru their word..not any solid evidence. Hope this gives you some insite as to what may be.
