Perhap you - and many others - did not understand that when I wrote that the small town still has the Cliburn Manor that house is the remaining building of a large family that originally held a vast estate in that area of Westmoreland. Through the years the family estate became smaller as some of the family lived in different areas all the way down to Kings Lynn. That is where William Claiborne left to come to Virginia. Also through those years the name changes were quite frequent. I would have to go back through the years of my research - and that of others - to even begin to write down all of them!! When I recently began putting together the family trees of my four grandparent as far as I am able to at this time, I wrote down a number of the changes through their name spelling - even with the Anderson family where I am called "The Historian". That one, however, is getting to be an expensive chore. Even though my husband and I were both "only children" our small group of descendants is spreading out also! Just found out about an unknown cemetery last week in our local paper!
