Sherry, a cousin and I just read your 2008 post about John Spencer possibly being left with William Cockerham. We recently had cousin do a Ydna test for our LAWSON line and it came back, to our huge surprise, matching Cockerham and not Lawson. According to the Ydna test, our "non-paternity event" took place 8 - 12 generations ago.
Your post grabbed our attention because the names John, William, and Spencer have been in our Lawson line back to our brick wall WRL - William Riley Lawson - b. abt 1833 in Union Co. SC whose mother was named Sarah (possible last name Fincher, unverified to date), and father's name is unknown. WRL named his sons: John Ezell Lawson, William F. Lawson, Joseph Spencer Lawson, Riley S. Lawson, and Robert Fincher Lawson - daughters are Louisa J. Lawson and Mary Ellen Lawson.
We have primarily been looking for our Lawson-Cockerham connection. With that said, your post made us both curious about a possible Spencer Cockerham connection as well.
Would you be willing to share info?
Patt
