Hello,
Hope this reply helps. When you wrote "I have contacted someone at the Buffalo Bills Museum in Cody,WY and they said there is no one named Mary in the family." Huh? What? I read that posting over and over, and found it incredible. That's amazing! With all of the hundreds, possibly thousands, of Mary Cody's they said there is 'No one named Mary' in the family?? (!!) You really need to let somebody reputable from the Museum (a director, or a historical librarian) know that you were informed that statement, for it was a pitiful mis-statement, if I am reading what you wrote correctly - and any thinking person would quickly know otherwise, and agree that it's an outright falsehood. Unless, that is, the posting was misinterpreted - or you misunderstood, either which is still possible.
Moving on , and in the interest of hoping to be helpful with your query, you wrote that " But Buffalo Bill had a sister named Mary and his daughter was named Mary." Yes, you are certainly correct for he surely had a sister who was born in 1853 - died 1920-ish and of course her name was in fact Mary Cody (one of the many, many Mary Cody's in that family)! However, he did not have any daughter named Mary, but that doesn't mean there were lots (and lots!) of other Mary Cody's in those family lines. When was your Mary Cody born or who did she marry?
Also don't forget to share any other details, anything that may help others to help you. Locations, dates, other names, anything you can come up with to link those connections!
