Comanche Nation
Has anyone done any research on how Chief Wallace Coffee(y), Chairman of the Comanche nation in Lawton Oklahoma, got his Anglo American surname. I suspect his ancestors took his surname from Holland Coffee(y), the Red River Trader. BY 1836, Coffee(y) made peace and establish trade relations with most of the wild Indians and the Indian Nations in what is now Oklahoma. Coffee ramso0med many captured whites from the Comanches until he was killed in a duel with another white man in 1846. Ambrose Coffey was Holland Coffey's father and that is how he spelled his surname until he was eleven years of age.
