Beth, I don't have a William Edward Cofield nor a John H. Cofield in my data. However, it's very possible that there is a connection to the Coffields that I listed earlier. I just haven't got a lot of information about the descendants that were not in my direct line. John's father may be one of the men that I do have. Have you tried to find his family in the 1850,60, 70 census records? Do you know John's siblings?
