I think there must be a connection between my Prout family and the Coffins as my great aunt was given the middle name of Coffin. She was born in 1863 in Town of Cairo, Greene Co. NY to Jemima Thompson and Moses Crooker Prout. Jemima's mother was Cynthia Spaulding whoes father was Ephraim Spaulding of Ashford, CT. I joined the Mayflower Society through my Spaulding, Paine, Snow and Stephen Hopkins line. I feel Coffin must have been a family name or they wouldn't have used it for a girl's middle name.I have been stuck on my Thompson line. I joined DAR on Prout line. Would appreciate any help I might receive.
