Really glad I could help.I know very little about my family's past, as if there was some dark secret. But I can tell you I've heard that I supposed to be related to a Christopher Coffman who came over here with another brother. Also heard that we came from Germany and maybe Alace Lorraine (which has bounced back and forth between owned by Germany and France).
All I can tell you is my Dad had somewhere around 6 brothers and 3 sisters. My Grandfather, Robert Lee Coffman, fought in the Phillipines against the Moros and lost his arm (and ending his military career) in a battle against Poncho Villa around 1915.He served under General "Black Jack" Pershing. He was in the calvry and I have a picture of him standing by a horse that was shot from underneath him in Mexico. He entered the Army as Robert Lee because he ran away from home at about age 15 or so (guess you had to have parental permission for that age then). He passed away in 1958 and is buried in Zachary Taylor military cemetery in Louisville, KY.Other than that, that's about all I know...or can get out of my contemporary relatives (short of torture, that is).
Who knows, maybe we're related!
Good hunting!
