I hope someone out there may have a connection or a hint!!!
I am researching Samuel P. Coffman and to date, the info below is about all I have from his still living granddaughter.
SAMUEL PATTON COFFMAN was born October 25, 1858 in Tenn, and died 1958 in Springtown, Parker Co., Tx.He married MARY MELISSA THOMAS Abt. 1886, daughter of UNCLE THOMAS and WINNIE.
Notes for SAMUEL PATTON COFFMAN:Free Methodist Minister and part time farmer.Studied hymns and ordained in 1922.Lived within 6 weeks of his 100th birthday.He came to Texas in 1882 and worked as a shoemaker.

Retired Minister Observes 96th Birthday Here-Rev. S. P. Coffman, retired Free Methodist minister
and father of two Wichitans, celebrated his 96th birthday Sunday with a party at the home of his son,
D. C. Coffman, 4326 Boren, with whom he has been living the past month.Thirty-eight persons, including
three of five children attended.Rev. Coffman lived in San Antonio before moving here recently.
He was born Oct. 25, 1858, in Tennesse.He came to Texas in in 1882, and was employed as a
shoemaker in Springtown, in Archer County.(this was what was stated in the newspaper, but
Springtown was not in Archer County).In 1886, and he married Miss Mary Thomas, and they
moved to Wise County, where he worked as a part-time farmer, spending much of his time preaching.
Reverend Coffman trained four years for evangelistic work, and was ordained in the Free Methodist
Church, in 1922.Since then he served various town in Texas, Oklahoma and Tennessee, including
preaching engagements in Wichita Falls.
