I can't directly answer your question. However, I do know of Colburns in Indiana at that time. My ancestor Revil Coleburn and wife Margaret (Peggy) followed their daughter to New Castle county Indiana from North Carolina sometime in the late 1700s or very early 1800s. (They were originally from the Eastern Shore of Virginia). Revil and Margaret had sons named John (through which I am descended), Spencer, George, James, and William. I know that at least one son (John) also moved to Indiana. I do not know the names of the children of those sons, but perhaps one of them was the father or grandfather of your Robert Colborn.
