Looking for others researching this family. Sylvester was born about 1763; the question is where? The heirs named in his probate records in 1841 were Charlotte married to Charles Ellis of Lewanee Co., MI, Rebecca married to Abner Ellis also of Lenawee Co., MI, Robert of Livingston Co., MI, Isaac of Shiawasee Co., MI, Amos of Blenheim, Ontario, Canada, Lydia Wisner, widow, of Parma, Monroe Co., New York, the only surviving son of his daughter Charity, deceased, Jonathan Land (or possibly Lund),and daughter Susannah married to William Crawford (the executor of his estate) of Buffalo, NY. His widow, Susannah, was also listed as living in Shiawasee Co., MI while Sylvester died in Buffalo on April 26, 1841. He may have been living with the Crawfords at the time of his death. I have lots of information on the descendants of Amos (Benjamin and Sylvester of Kent Co., MI and Robert, William, and Abraham of Sauk Co., WI, and two daughters who died young with children) and a little on some of the other siblings. I'm interested in figuring out where Sylvester came from before he bought his land in Amherst from the Holland Land Co. in 1809. Amos (b. abt 1791) lists his birthplace as Pennsylvania in the 1851 Ontario Census, but Charlotte and Robert who are probably both older are listed as born in NY in the 1850 census. Is Sylvester related to the Robert Colborn of Turkeyfoot, PA? Many given names in common in these families. Did Sylvester come from the Colborns in Connecticut or New Hampshire? Do any of the Michigan Colborns know if Sylvester bought land in Michigan where his widow was residing?
