I just ran across this posting, and have finally found out enough family history to start putting it together. George Wilbur Colborn is also my g-grandfather, and your grandfather was my mother's uncle, although as I understand, my grandfather (Earl Colborn) was sort of the black sheep of the family, and my grandmother pretty much lost touch with his family. My mother never knew much about him or his family, or at least never said much to us. I have a cousin in So. Cal. (La Canada-Flintridge area) who's also starting to look into our background.
My mother was Jane Winchell Colborn, and she had two sisters, Barbara and Peggy (Elizabeth, I believe.) My grandmother's maiden name was Marjorie Mitchell, and she and her father and mother are buried in the same cemetery as George Wilbur and his wife.
I have one photo of Earl and some letters he had written to my grandmother, as well as some letters his mother Leyde had written to him.
(BTW, my brother and sister still live in the Santa Monica area.)

Hope you get this. I'd really appreciate getting some input from a side of my family that has been lost to me until now.
