Is Kohlborn/Kohlbraun the same than Colborn?

My ancestor was JEAN-BAPTISTE (JOHANNES) COLPRON. I think the real spelling of his surname was different, because the name COLPRON was not known in any country in Europe at that time.
I wonder if his real surname was not KOHLBORN/KOHLBRON or probably Colborn.
He was born around 1741. He was married around 1775-1780 to
Marguerite AOUTINE/AUGUSTINE. They said they were ALSACIANS
and spoke only german when they settled in Canada around 1783 with their young son Georges.
Does anyone has a Johannes Colborn in his genealogy?
Any information will be greatly appreciated.
