Hello Kent - Thanks for getting in touch. Since I posted that message, I had found his mother's maiden name. I also found a marriage for William J Coclough, son of John and Elizabeth (Young) Colclough, and a Mary TENNANT in 1903. I can't find a death for her, but William was living with Hamilton and Mary Smith (Ethel's parents) and Ethel in 1911 and listed as a son-in-law. I still can't find a marriage on Ancestry for them nor do I know if they ever had a family but I would think they probably married just before the census was taken. Ethel is my line so I am not really interested in following back on the Colclough family, but thanks for giving me that information anyway. It might lead me to a connection who knows something about William and Ethel.
I will keep working on this when I get a chance and see if I can come up with an answer.
