I have an 1895 newspaper obituary of John Eaton Colclough who died at Le Bic, Quebec on Sept. 20th aged 84 yrs and 9 months, eldest son of late Dudley Hill Colclough of Tintern Abbey, Wexford Co Ireland. Dudley Colclough and Elizabeth Eaton married 1809 in Kildaven, Co Carlow and settled near Quebec City around 1820. All of their 12 children remained in Canada. I assume my grt grt grandmother Caroline Colclough Bouchard - John's youngest sister who was his only relative living in another Quebec town where the newspaper was published - was responsible for the obituary. Since all given Colclough names seem to be related to someone significant I am wondering how the name Hill is connected to Wexford Colcloughs in the 1780's. There are educated assumptions as to the names of Dudley's parents and even birthplace so I wonder if anyone has done research into the Hill name. With all my research I have never come across it. Many thanks Notify Administrator about this message?
