I have Beecham/Beacham (derived from Colclough name Beauchamp) Horseman of the West in PDF so am familiar with the Brandon connection. Sarah - 7th of 12 children to Elizabeth Eaton & Dudley Hill Colclough. B 14 Aug 1821 bap 23 Sep 1821 Riviere-du-Loup. Record shows Bridget Colclough sponser; d/o Dudley Colclough miller,Masquinonge & Eliza his wife.(Cousin Bridget in Quebec with her parents Beauchamp Colclough & Catherine Crawford whose son Capt Guy Carleton Colclough was in nearby Sorel). Sarah d 26 Jan 1893 Pittsburgh twp, Frontenac Co. The earliest record of Sarah's parents in Quebec is Holy Trinity Anglican,Quebec City 20 Nov 1817 record of baptism for 5th child Elizabeth b 25 Oct 1817.Record states 'father Dudley Colclough- clerk in the employ of Mr Caldwell @ the Chaudiere River in the parish of Point Levi'. Oldest child Frances m 1830 Quebec City James Birmingham of Leeds Co (near Kingston ON) & this would be that area's 1st connection.Brother William Birmingham was witness. Beecham says parents (Sarah) met thru sister Eliza. And Eliza is married to James Birmingham.
From further evidence I've gathered - Eliza 1st m Wm B. He died. Frances died. Widow/widower Eliza & James marry & have more children. And then... to add another Colclough to this mix... 10th child Henrietta (m to Edward Montgomery)has 8 children, one of whom Henrietta Elizabeth marries the widowed 'horse trader' Alexander Trotter(cousin of Beecham) in Toronto 1893. He has 4 daughters back in Brandon. They would have 2 more daughters & a son who became an MD. Lots more info I'd be happy to share. Perhaps if we communicated with regular email would be better? Carol
