Hello Brian,

Thank you for your message. I have not had time to go through it thoroughly, but will do so this weekend. I did scan it briefly, and I believe I have all of your family included in my Coldiron database down to yourself and your sister (with no marriages for either of you). I am grateful for the additional information you provided in our continuing study and effort to compile all Coldiron families.

I will be able to give you considerable information on the rest of John D. Coldiron's descendants, and on his ancestors back to the early 1600's in Germany. Most of this is covered in the Coldiron Family Genealogy book I published in 1998, but we have made some additions to these families since. I believe we now have the John D. Coldiron & Martha Nance families very well documented.

Incidently, we have concluded just in the past 18 months that the correct spelling for Martha's surname is NANCE, not NANTZ as we previously thought. Martha's ancestors spelled the name Nance; Martha spelled it Nance in the family bible, and it is recorded as Nance on John & Martha's marriage certificate. For reasons that are unclear to us, the modern generations have adopted the Nantz spelling.

I would like to correspond with you further via e-mail after I've reviewed the material you sent. I have your e-mail address as: taliesn@home.com

My e-mail address is: ottoc@earthlink.net

I look forward to exchanging additional family information. By the way, you and I are third cousins, twice removed. Our common ancestors are John D.'s parents, William (Billie) Coldiron and Leah Lewis. John D. and Abner Lewis Coldiron, my great-grandfather, were brothers.

Otto G. Coldiron
