Sorry for the delay in responding to you, Ms. Aaland. We have been on vacation and just returned.
I appreciate your query. At this time I cannot connect your 3-great grandmother to the rest of the Coldirons. If she was born abt. 1814 in KY, she could have been a daughter of Conrad Coldiron & Rachel Hendricks, who brought their family to Knox Co. (now Harlan Co.) KY in abt. 1808. As far as we know, they were the only Coldiron family in KY around the time Joanna (or Catherine) would have been born.
However, neither Joanna or Catherine is listed as one of the 13 children of Conrad and Rachel. She would have been a very late birth for Conrad and Rachel, who would be in their early to mid 50's at that time.
Another possibility is that Joanna (or Catherine) could have been a daughter of George Coldiron and his wife susan (maiden name unknown). This George was the first son of Conrad. George and Susan took their family to Missouri in abt. 1831. It is interesting that Joanna (or Catherine) and her husband William M. Waldon also migrated to MO -- perhaps this is a significant connection.
Another outside possibility for the father of Joanna (or Catherine) would be Henry Coldiron and Margaret Shephard. Henry was the third son of Conrad, and raised a large family in Lee Co., VA. They had a daughter named Catherine, but she was born abt. 1831 in Lee Co., VA.
I would like to have the information of Joanna's (or Catherine's) descendants, even if we can't connect them to the rest of the Coldiron family at this time. Perhaps someday we can. If you can send the information to me, I would appreciate it very much -- Thanks. (Address: 1125 Arlanie Rd., Brooksville, FL 34609.)
