Do you have your Asa Colegorve's line? If he married a Mather before 1810, he would almost certainly have done so in Connecticut, as all American Mathers came through CT. AS I have determined that my Joseph was in Windsor, CT, in 1788, perhaps we have a connection.
I am sure there is an error regarding the Joseph and Hannah Colegrove of the published "book", and I have speculated that my line is caught up in that. The book has Joseph of Exeter, RI, marrying a Hannah, and moving to Madison Co., NY, in the early 1800s and having several children born there. Yet I can find no Madison Co. Colegroves, only Cortland Co., NY, Colegroves -- that is where my Joseph went.
I am wondering if there were not two generations of Joseph...
