My mother's maiden name was Colegrove. I am in possession of a xerographic reprint of "The History and Genealogy of the Colegrove Family in America", self-published by Dr. William Colegrove in 1894. This may be the same book referred to by Valerie Timmins in her posting. My copy was obtained from University Microfilms International, 300 N. Zeeb Road, Ann Arbor, MI 48106. Phone 800- 521-0600 or 313-761-4700.

Francis Colegrove is the patriarch, and this man (William)spent 40 years tracing the 5 sons ("tribes")--of Francis. Francis also had two daughters, but he didn't bother with them! Let's hope we've become less chauvinistic in the last 300 years.
