I am new to this ancestor search, so please bear with me.
My maternal grandmother"s name was Belva Lockwood Colgin. She married Samuel TenBroeck and had two children, Melva Lucille (my mother) and Carl. She had sisters Clara (Colgin) Brown and Alto (Colgin) Brown.
I believe my grandmother,Belva, had relatives in Colorado and I believe in Iowa. My mothers cousins ,Williams, I believe lived in Washington.
Since Alta is not a very common name, could this be a part of your family?
