You are definitely part of our Colgin line. Belva was the youngest daughter of George Washington Colgin and May (Malinda) Gordon. I have very little information on Belva although I did find her and her two children in the census. George Washington Colgin was the oldest son of Daniel Colgin and Margaret Mabbitt. George had siblings William Smith Colgin, John Strange Colgin, Christopher Columbus Colgin (my line), Mary Violet Colgin and Charles Jasper Colgin. About 1872, Daniel and Margaret arrived in Allen Co., Kansas; Daniel died there in the first part of the 1900's and Margaret died at George's home in Ordway, Colorado, in 1919. Both Daniel and Margaret are buried in LaHarpe Cemetery, Allen Co., Kansas.

George and his second wife, Ida Martin, lived in Ordway, Colorado from about 1911 until their deaths. George died in 1929 and I'm not sure of Ida's death date. Charley also moved to Colorado before 1920 and lived there for the rest of his life. William married and divorced in Kansas; he had several daughters and died in the 1930's at Emporia, Kansas. John married in Kansas, but returned to Iowa before 1900 where he remained for the rest of his life. Christopher, my great-grandfather, remained in Allen Co., Kansas. Mary, the only daughter, lived in Oklahoma.

George married Malinda Gordon in 1878 in Madison Co., Iowa. All of their daughters were born in Iowa I believe. Kathy reported that Alta was born at Dexter in Dallas Co. In 1880, George and May were living in Shelby? Co., Iowa. By 1885, they were in Allen Co., Kansas. May (d. 1886) is buried in the Gillham Cemetery in Allen Co. George married Ida Martin in 1889 in Iola, Allen Co., Kansas. They were still in Allen Co. in 1900, but were gone by 1910. Clara and Alta were married in Colorado. I am not sure of the other two daughters, including Belva.

I hope this has helped. I apologize for not replying sooner, but I do not recall receiving any notice of a message from you. Please let me know what I can do to help.
