My Colletti family comes from the Caltanissetta region of Sicily (village of Villalba). While the name is very common in that area, my friend in Rome tells me that it is also common in Northern Italy. It's possible that during the great migration of Italians to America in the early 1900's, some of your friend's Colletti family migrated from Sicily to Northern Italy or from the North to Sicily. You might suggest to them that they check out the Ellis Island web site to see if they can find their particular ancestor. Their place of residence (prior to immigration) is generally listed on the manifest. The address is www.ellisislandrecords.com. Good luck.
