Hi I am looking for any information on my great great grandfather Alford Major Coltrain. He was born about 1835 in North Carolina died Sep 27 1897 in Tennessee. He was married to May F. Griffon also known as Mary Francis born 1837-1897. They had four children. Mosella Eller, Sylvester, Columbus, Lawrance Coltrain. They lived in Crockett Co. Tennessee. Mosella was married to my great grandfather James Thomas Garrett. When my mother was younger Mosella always told them she was Cherokee Indian. This lies where my question comes from. My mother her brother and sister have grown up thinking but not knowing for sure they were Cherokee. Mosella was also known as Mosey Ella Coltrain Garrett. She and James lived in Dyersburg, Dyer, Tn. She was born Dec 1866- Oct 17 1945. They had four children; Mosey Falsom Garrett 1886-1969, William Erby 1893-1970(my grandfather) E. Thomas 1897-1898, Robert Alsie 1901-1934. As far back as I can saftley get is Alfred because all that history is in our family bible.
If you know of anyone that may be able to help me please send me their information or contacts. I have information on from Alfred down to my grandchildren if we are kin and you need that information.
