NC Marriage with Paine or Adams?

I am interested in finding out if there is intermarriage in old Orange Co>Caswell> Person Co, NC with the Adams or Paine families? Columbus shows up in three generations so I believe it may be a maternal name. 1790-1850s. The families leave the NC/Va border and migrate to Tn by 1820s. Thanks Meredith
