I am not related to your lines (as far as I can tell) but this information is from "The Demographic History of the Comerfords" by Barney Comerford.
Comerfords of Pana, Illinois
Joseph Comerford of Co. Kilkenny Ireland married Elizabeth Dugan.
They had the following children:
Thomas, Joseph, Michael (1820), Adam.
Thomas married Johanna Davy just at the beginning ofthe Great Famine and their first three children were born during that period. The family moved from the vicinity of the hamlet of Comerford to Tipperary. Then, thirteen months after the birth of their son, Patrick, in 1850, they set sail for America on the "Josey Walker".
They settled first in Butler, Ohio where their fifth child, Thomas was born in 1852.They moved west into Illinois and settled on the prairie in Christian Co., near the village of Pana. Here they had four more children, to a total of nine.Patrick (1850) lived a bit north of Millersville, was a farmer, a lifelong Democrat, a Christian County Judge, and an avid trainer of race horses. He had ten children (five sons, five daughters)None of the sons remained in Pana, a couple of the daughters, Clare and Rose each married one of the local Beyers boys.
One of Patrick's boys, James married and lived in S. Dakota.
Patrick's son, Vincent, moved out of Pana, but only about 75 miles southwest to Alton, Illinois. He had a son, also named Vincent, who had a son, John who lived in Blackwell, OK in the same area as his Uncle John (see below).John left a son, John Jr., who ranched in the same area.
Patrick's son, William, stayed in the Pana vicinity until WWI when he enlisted at the age of 18.After the war he moved about and changed jobs frequently, living in Chicago for awhile and finally settled in Indianapolis. He has a son, Westy, named after a close friend who was killed at Pearl Harbor.
Patrick's son, John, also born in Pana, lived to be 90 years old. He had been a farmer in Hennessey, OK, then an oil lease buyer in Blackwell and Bramin, OK.He had a daughter, Mary Ann and three sons, Patrick, John A., and Raymond. All were farmers in this same area of Kay County in northern central Oklahoma.
The last of Patrick's sons is Patrick Bernard (born 1882) in Pana.He worked in grain elevators in Oklahoma and Kansas, eventually moving to and dying in Texas. He had three sons and four daughters.
Thomas (1852, Butler, Ohio) made his final home in Pana, from the time his parents settled there until his death. He is buried there in the Catholic cemetery. He had a family of nine with three of them being sons, Thomas, Philip, and August.Thomas the eldest was born about 1870 and never married.
Philip, born 1880, had four boys and four daughters. Two were twins, Victor and Virgil, neither of whom married.Lawrence, had a son Patrick.Merritt had a son, Merritt.
Patick's daughter, Opal shared this information with Barney Comerford, the author.
Hope this helps. If you have a connection and further questions on this line, you can contact me via email.
