At the time that George Cancienne (actually Giorgio Quinciay Cansiani)lived there, they were in Venetia, an independent country. Napoleon captured it and held it as a French possession for a while. Later, he transferred it to Italy, at which point it was named Venice.

Although I often see his wife's middle name as have it (Catharina), I have information from a descendant that Catarina was her maiden name. I haven't figured out how Yeane fits in.

Their son, Pierre, was born 1 Jan 1751/52 in Venetia(Venice, Italy) close to Lyons, France. He died 21 Mar 1830 in Donaldsonville, Louisiana. He married Jeanne Marguerite Landry in 1786 in Donaldsville, LA. He settled in an area of Ascension Parish, which at the time was called Valenzuela. This area is now known as the Bunn-Hood Subdivision on bayou Lafouche just south of Donaldsonville. I have not been able to identify George's parents.
