Eleanor, I truly wish I knew. My grandfather, Edward Samuel Condy, lived in Big Springs, NEbraska. His mother and father came from Ireland, and probably followed the Oregon Trail, and decided to homestead in Big Springs. Some Armstrongs also settled next to the Condy homestead, and they fit into the puzzle somehow, but not sure how. Edward was born in Quincy Illinois, 12-21-1883, son of Archie and Mary Condy, acc. to his obit. Archie and Mary Condy are buried in Big Springs, as are many, many Armstrongs. Mary's maiden name was Wood. There is also a large headstone close by of a "isabella Wood". Supposedly, acc. to my uncle, who is in his mid 90's, "married cousins" Not quite sure what that was to mean, but he seemed very imbarassed about it, and would not elaborate.
There is a "Ham" Condy" somewhere. Do not know if that is a brother of Edward, or of Archie.
The name Isabelle was given as the wife of Alexander, but with question marks???
Other than these little tidbits, I have been unable to build on any of it.
Any help would truly be appreciated.
Carol Condy-Bennett
PS, Communications with an Armstrong in England, state that the Wilson family(as of Pres. Woodrow Wilson) and the Condy family were kin. A Wilson signed the marriage certificate of a Condy=Armstrong marriage.Pres. Wilson and my father look like twins. There is some thoughts that Pres. Grant also was related, and my grandfather Edward, could be a twin to Pres. Grant. But,,,only suspicions at this point.
