He was a banker in California who did a newspaper column on genealogy, and then put his "findings" in a 7-volume set with title "First Settlers of Piscataway and Woodbridge". Robert Charles Anderson, of the New England Historic & Genealogical Society (NEHGS), has called Monnette one of the worst genealogists of any generation, and, before I learned, Monnette led me down many many false paths.
My question on the "Belconger" is, does the Bel have any life outside of Monnette and the people who have quoted from him?
