The work that Maxine Leonard did in compiling the Conger Family of America Volume 1, echoes Eliza's information. I suspect that Eliza probably provided it to Maxine to include in the book.
After rereading your original posting, it occurred to me that you may be coming at this on an assumption. Do you have any information that actually lists Charles Le Roy with the surname CONGER? Perhaps he wasn't as blood related as we assume. Sometimes the term "Uncle" is used as a term of endearment to a very closed friend to the family who acts the part of a devoted "Uncle" to the children. For an example, my own son had such an "Uncle Charlie" when he was younger. His real name was Charles Crenshaw, a close friend whom I worked with. Of course in the days of the early '70s "Uncle Charlie" would have raised an eyebrow in some places since he was Afro-American. Thank God we have made further strides since then. Anyway, perhaps this "Uncle Charlie Le Roy" was just a close friend and not related or even a Conger.
Good Luck in your hunt.
