Martin & Isaiah CONN family of Fayette County, Tennessee
Tuesday, 4 August 1840 - Court met according to adjournment.
Isaiah CONN, administrator of estate of Martin CON, dec'd, gave settlement. [Fayette County, Tennessee, Court Minutes, p. 43 in "Ansearchin'" News, Tennessee Genealogical Society, V. 26, Winter, 1979, p. 162]
Martin Conn married Nelly Allen 29 Mar 1806 in Wayne County, KY. [Kentucky Marriages, 1802-1850, Ancestry.com]
Were these the same Martin Conn?
What is the relationship between Martin Conn and Isaiah Conn?
I believe these may be a link I have been looking for for a long time to the family of my ancestor, Levi B. Conn, who married Elizabeth Duke of Fayette County, Tennessee, about 1834.
Levi B. Conn, his brother Robert W. Conn (who married Caroline Duke), Unity Conn, and Mahala Conn Parr (wife of Jeremiah Parr) all lived near each other in Pontotoc County, MS, in 1850.
Levi B. Conn was born in KY about 1813.
Mahala Conn Parr was born in KY in 1817. The Parrs are said to have married in NC in 1834.
Robert W. Conn was born in KY about 1819. He named a son Martin.
Unity Conn's children were born between 1836 and 1846 in Tennessee. One of her daughters was Mary Eleanor (Nelly?). In trying to locate the husband of Unity Conn and the father of her children, I searched the 1840 Tennessee census for a woman 25 years old with children:
1 Male 5-9;
1 Female <5;
2 males <5.
I came up with:
?Fayette, Tennessee
Isiah Conn, 30-39 (1801-10);
FWF 20-29;
FWF 5-9;
3 FWM under 5
(This is what led me to Isaiah and Martin.)
I'd appreciate any help you can give.
