Seeking information on John Connell RS of Georgia and his family.He was born about
1759 in Pennsylvania and he’s listed in Lucian LamarKnight’s Roster of the Revolution. Certificate of Georgia militia service dated 25 Feb 1784.First married Sarah Ansley in Greene County on 30 Jan 1801. No children are known. John Connell was known to be a 30 year resident of Burke County and afterwards he movedto Montgomery County Georgia. Second married Clarissa Hamilton about8 Aug 1824 in Montgomery County. Clarissa Hamilton was the daughter ofStewart Hamilton RS andClarissa Stringer of North Carolina.

( 1 ) Bazel Connell born July 10, 1824 &died Dec 15, 1916.Married ChristineFurgerson on 19 March 1846 inMontgomery County.Enlisted Dec 1,1862 as private in Co. H 63rd Reg.Georgia Infantry and discharged with adisability on April 3, 1863.Knownchildren are Mary Connell, ClarissaConnell, Flora Connell, ElizabethConnell, John W. Connell, RosabelConnell, Christian A. Connell, andWilliam B. Connell.
( 2 ) William Connell born June 16, 1828 & died Aug 20, 1862. Married Pinkie Mosley on
16 June 1850 in Montgomery County. Enlisted May 7, 1862 as private in Co. G.32nd
Reg. Georgia Infantry and died in a Savannah hospital.Buried Hamilton Cemetery
Montgomery County. Known children are Mary Connell, John B. Connell, Nancy Connell,
Pinky Connell, Lavina Connell and William S. Connell.
( 3 ) Pinky Connell born about 1828. Marital status and date of death not known.May
have married ClementA. Mosley.
( 4 ) Daniel Connell born about 1831 and deceased before March 29, 1859.Married Nancy
Prevatt on 8 Sep 1855 in Montgomery County.One known child Mary Jane Connell
( 5 ) Nancy Connell born June 1833 & died April 9, 1909.Married James I. Calhoun on
8 Oct 1850 in Montgomery County. Buried in a Darley-Calhoun Cemetery in Montgomery
County.Mother of 14 children and 11 survived to adulthood. Children were John C.
Calhoun, James W. Calhoun, Burrell R. Calhoun, George L. Calhoun, Daniel O. Calhoun,
Emily E. Calhoun, Clarissa Jane Calhoun, Charlton H. Calhoun, Washington L. Calhoun,
Cynitha E. Calhoun, and Maggie Eliza Calhoun.
( 6 ) Mary Connell born about 1834 & date of death not known.Married Nicholas P.
Hamilton on 17 June 1853 in Montgomery County.Known children are Daniel Hamilton, Charles Hamilton,Josephine Hamilton, Clarissa Hamilton, Margaret Hamilton and Willie Ann Hamilton.

John Connell RS is buried in a Montgomery County Hamilton Cemetery and his grave has
been marked by the Thomasville Georgia Chapter DAR.
A grandson was Burrell R. Calhounborn 19 Sep 1858 & died 10 Oct 1925.He was a
graduate of Mercer College, lawyer in Dodge County and Mayor of Eastman Georgia.He recorded that his grandmother Clarissa Connell died in 1875.She does not have a grave
marker.
