Conner- Workman connections
I am searching for any information that will help me connect my Jane Conner b. 21 dec 1793, d. 12 jan 1867, wife of Amos Workman b 1764 frosburg MD d.1844 Belmont county Ohio, to other Conner family members who married Workmans. Right my Jane was as, one previous poster stated, sprung from a cabbage patch! Supposedly she married Amos Workman sometime between 1815 and 1818 but there is no record of it? There is however a record of a Jane Matheny marrying Amos Workman on June 12, 1816 in Monongalia county, West Virginia. The daughter of space is blank, and the bondsman was a William Workman. This has frustrated me for years! I am now starting to wonder if maybe Jane Conner and Jane Matheny are actually same person- that Jane Conner was her maiden name, she might have married a Matheny previous to marrying Amos Workman?
I'm sure that she is most likely related to the other Conner family members but can't quite find the connection to them.
I do also have an old biography from one of their descendants, Charles Workman- when he was asked about his nationality, he stated that his ancestors were Dutch, Irish and Scottish. The Connor connection would explain where the Irish was from, although he was descended from Amos and first wife, Rebeccah- not second wife, Jane. After looking through a lot of the Conner family though, I am also thinking that maybe his first wife was also a Connor? there is a marriage record for him and a Rebecca?
I would appreciate any help or additional information anyone might have on this!
