Conroy/Nugent, Galway, early 1800s

John Conry (subsequent generations spelled it Conroy) and his wife, Bridget Nugent, lived in Abbeyknockmoy Parish, Co. Galway, Ireland, and had a son Timothy, who was baptized 18 October 1824. [Source: Abbeyknockmoy baptismal records, which begin in October 1821]

I believe John and Bridget may have had an older son Peter, who married Mary Donaughoo, and died about 1865. He lived in Brierfield South, Co. Galway, and had children John (1841-c1894), Bridget (1846-1906, married Patrick Moylan), Peter (1849-1935) and Catherine (married Thomas Byrne). My theory is based on the proximity of Peter and his proposed parents, as well as traditional Irish naming patterns: Peter's first son was John, and his first daughter was Bridget.

There are also two or three heads of families named Patrick Conroy/Conry in Abbeyknockmoy parish, who appear to be contemporaries of Peter and Mary Conry.

The sole entry in the baptismal record between their beginning (1821) and the baptism of Peter's son John (1841) is for Timothy Conry; this also leads me to believe that John and Bridget were the progenitors of the other Conroys/Conrys who appear a generation later.

Any advice helping to prove or disprove this theory would be much appreciated!
