As far as I can tell our name used to be Connory.
Michael Connory came over from Ireland.
His son William Joseph Connory changed his last name to Conroy when he ran away with Emaline Augusta Hill to get married.
I assume William did not want to be found. Emaline's father was not happy. She was well educated and William was a railroad worker. We think Alexander Hill wanted better for his daughter Emmaline.
