I've only just began tracing my family. There is probably some connection but I'm not sure where. It might have been back in Ireland? Michael and Margaret Conroy/Connory came to New York in 1867. She was expecting a child (Mary) which was born in New York on February 12, 1867. Soon after they set out for an Irish settlement in Iowa. I don't know any information about Michael's siblings, parents etc. nor do I have any of that information on Margaret. They ended up having 7 children. Mary (above) James on 3/20/1870 in Iowa, Martin 4/1872, Michael in 1875, Margaret in 1876, William on 10/16/1879 and Thomas. I still have a lot of work to do. So many dates and people are missing. William Joseph (Michael and Margaret's son) married Emmaline Augusta Hill. This is where we think he changed his name from Connory to Conroy. Emmaline's dad (Alexander Hill) did not approve of William Joseph so they ran away together, changed their last name and got married. They had seven children that lived. Margaret Della on 3/5/1911 in Kansas City, Kansas, then a set of twins that died at birth. They had Bernice Agnes on 9/23/1915 in Ogden, Utah, then William Alexander on 2/13/1917 in Ely, Nevada, then Clair Martin (my grandfather) on 8/16/1918 in Ely, White Pines County, Nevada, then Bernadine Lillian on 12/23/1919 in Kansas City, Wyndotte County, Kansas, then Wilma Jean on 1/23/1921 in Kansas City, Wyndotte County, Kansas and lastly Glennine Marie on 8/17/23 in Kansas City, Wyndote County, Kansas. Clair Martin Conroy married Mary Agnes Scherman in 1948. Then had two sons. William "Bill" Conroy (my dad) born on 12/08/1951 in Jackson County, Missouri and then Robert "Bob" Martin Conroy born on 2/13/1954 in Jackson County, Missouri. William Conroy married Paula Michelle Lauderdale on 10/10/1987 and had one child named Laura Rachel Conroy who was born on 6/1/1990 in Jackson County, Missouri.
